"Some of the young people who need support are often the ones who struggle the hardest to find the right home. After years of working in the children's mental health space, I saw first-hand how many placements break down simply because services aren’t equipped to support young people with more complex needs, or how so many young people aren't even considered in the first place. Whether that’s young people stepping down from Tier 4 settings, those subject to DOLS arrangements, or children whose behaviours don’t fit a “standard” residential model....the shortage of the right homes is clear. Too often, these young people are labelled as “hard to place”, when in reality they just need the right environment, the right people, and the right level of understanding around them. That’s exactly why I decided to set up children's homes of my own, and I'm really excited about the team we have developed over at Crabbe Farm in Essex. I wanted to create a service built around relationships, safety, consistency, and genuine care .... a home I would be proud for my own children to live in if they ever needed support. Every young person deserves the opportunity to feel safe, valued, understood, and able to thrive."
